Coaching Philosphy

Coaching Philosophy

Jerry Concannon

Owner & Director, QuickSkills Soccer LLC

As a coach I try to create a soccer learning environment that is economical and age appropriate. I believe that positive coaching and reinforcement helps to foster player confidence and encourage risk taking. A calm demeanor is used when coaching.

One objective is to create better decision makers and establish a sense of personal responsibility and proactivity.

Another objective is to instill within the players a respect for themselves, the team, the coaches, the opponents, and the game itself.  A natural consequence would be to establish an appreciation and passion for the game of soccer.

I believe that a high level of professionalism, organization, and communication are keys to achieving these objectives.

In addition, I believe that if coaches expect players to develop as players then it is reasonable for players to expect coaches to develop as coaches.  Therefore, continuing education is an integral part of my coaching philosophy.

Player development is the primary focus and winning games is the result of a development process. Teaching players the roles and responsibilities of various positions will help improve their knowledge of the game and make them into well-rounded players.  My intention is to honor the game by playing an attractive brand of soccer that both players and fans can enjoy.
